Invisalign & Missing laterals

Patients presenting complaint: Gaps in smile

Initial assessment: Missing upper laterals means these spaces cannot be closed. Therefore we needed to increase the sizes of the spaces to accommodate full units.

Overview of case: By utilizing the Bolton analysis and grid function on clincheck we were able to plan for a nice balanced symmetrical finished result.

*Note: We have achieved bodily movement of the roots in this case – not tipping. This was achieved by utilizing special attachment protocols.

The restorative choice was bone grafting and implant OR resin bonded bridges. Together with the patient we chose the latter and the wings on the bridges would act as a permanent retainer.

No. of aligners: 42 in total.

Retention: Upper retention is via a combination of the bridges (permanent retention) and night time vivera (removable) & a lower bonded retainer.
